Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how Lebanon News (the “Service”), an AI-powered news website operated from Lebanon, handles information. It applies to everyone who visits the website.

The short version: the Service is read-only for the public. We offer no reader accounts, no newsletter and no comments, and we run no analytics or advertising trackers, so we collect very little personal information in the first place.

What We Collect — and What We Do Not

When you browse the public site, we do not ask you for any personal data and we do not build profiles about you. The only data the Service stores on your device are two small essential cookies: one that remembers the interface language you selected (English, French or Arabic), kept for one year, and one that records your cookie-banner choice, also kept for one year. Both are described in our Cookie Policy (/cookies).

To be just as clear about what we do not do:

• no reader accounts — only editors and administrators can sign in;
• no newsletter or mailing list;
• no comments or other content submitted by readers;
• no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party advertising cookies (see Advertising below).

AI Processing of Source Content

Articles on Lebanon News are not written by human journalists. They are generated by a large language model (AI) from news reports gathered from third-party sources, mainly through RSS feeds, and every article is reviewed by a human editor before it is published.

During that automated process, the text and web addresses of published source articles are transmitted to third-party AI providers (such as Google and DeepSeek), which process them on our behalf to draft the article. This processing involves published news content, not our visitors’ personal data: we do not send visitor information to AI providers. Each provider handles that content under its own privacy policy, which you can consult on their websites.

Cookies

The Service uses only a small number of essential first-party cookies: a language-preference cookie (one year), a cookie that stores your consent choice (one year), and a session cookie that keeps administrators signed in to the editorial workflow. We use no analytics or tracking cookies. The full list, with each cookie’s purpose and lifetime, is set out in our Cookie Policy (/cookies).

Advertising

The Service reserves slots for third-party advertising. Where advertising is displayed, it may be delivered by third-party networks that could set their own cookies. Advertising cookies are only ever set after you accept them through our cookie consent banner; if you reject, only the essential cookies described above are used. Data Retention

Because we collect hardly any personal data, our retention footprint is correspondingly small. Your language preference and your consent choice are kept for one year, or until you clear them from your browser. The administrators’ session cookie expires at the end of the admin session, at most thirty days after sign-in.

The published articles and the internal records of the generation process are kept as part of operating the Service; they relate to news content, not to our readers.

Your Rights

You do not need an account to use the Service and we keep no reader database, so as a rule there is no personal profile about you to access, correct or delete. You stay in control of the little data we do store: you can clear or block cookies in your browser, change your language at any time, or revisit your consent choice — deleting the cookie-consent cookie makes the banner ask you again.

Children

The Service is a general-audience news website and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect changes to the Service or to the law. The current version is always published on this page, with the “last updated” date adjusted accordingly.
